Nazhand came to life in the fall of 2004 by Lord Nazhand (Sam). Nazhand emerged among Iranian bands with its Ambient Black Metal structure and its first demo called Depths of Silence, presenting a music rooted in darkness and depression from his own perspective. What sets Nazhand apart from other Iranian bands in terms of music and artistic creation is that this one-man project marked the beginning of one of the first black metal bands with an ambient style in Iran, and the numerous demos produced during this time reflect Lord Nazhand’s passion, perseverance, and understanding of music. When we examine the lyrics of Nazhand, we encounter phrases that directly affect our thoughts. At the same time, the simplicity of the lyrics allows listeners to connect with them, and we also hear a sense of emptiness, hatred, and death in Nazhand’s voice, especially when he sings about loneliness. In the album Endless Night, we hear Nazhand’s best works, and in the album Faghan, we hear true ambient music fused with Nazhand’s hatred and contemplation. In Persian, Nazhand means depression.
